AWARD
The Michael Kelly Award honors a writer or editor whose work exemplifies a quality that animated Michael Kelly’s own career: the fearless pursuit and expression of truth. The award is sponsored by the Atlantic Media Co., where Michael Kelly worked from 1997 until his death in 2003.
ENTRY INFORMATION
In recognition of Michael Kelly’s career as a reporter and editor at a variety of newspapers and magazines, entries are encouraged from publications big and small, as well as from young journalists, whom Michael Kelly took delight in mentoring.
*Entries must be received by February 2, 2008.

*Entries must be for work published in a U.S.-based newspaper, magazine, or online site in 2007.
*Between 1 and 5 articles (not including sidebars) that were written or
edited by the entrant may be submitted, either in original form
or duplicates.
*A cover letter and completed entry form must accompany each entry.
*Supporting material (editorials, letters, etc.) may accompany
an entry.
*Five copies of the cover letter, completed entry form, supporting
material, and submitted articles must be included with each entry.
*Up to four individuals may be named on a team entry; otherwise
the entry must be in the name of the staff of the newspaper or
magazine.
*Judging will be conducted by a panel of journalists selected
by the Atlantic Media Company. Employees of Atlantic Media are not
eligible for the award.
*The winner will be announced in the Spring of 2008.
*The winner will receive a prize of $25,000. Finalists will receive a prize of $3,000 apiece. If the award is given
to a team or staff, the disbursal of the award will be the responsibility
of the person who submitted the entry form.
*Entries will not be returned.
